Most small business owners in Berlin don't need a bigger website. They need a clearer one. A visitor should understand what you do, where you work and how to contact you within a few seconds. If they can't, they go back to Google and click on a competitor.

Use this small business website checklist to review your own site. Be honest – every missing point costs you enquiries.
1. A clear headline above the fold
Your first screen should say what you do and where. "Plumber in Neukölln – emergency repairs within 2 hours" beats "Welcome to our website" every time. Add one main button: call, WhatsApp, book or request a quote.
2. Contact details that work on mobile
Most local searches happen on a phone. Your phone number should be clickable, your address should open in Google Maps, and your opening hours should be easy to find. If you serve several districts, say which ones.
3. One page per service
A single "Services" page with a long list is hard to rank and hard to read. Give each main service its own page with a short description, who it's for, typical questions and a clear next step. This also helps Google understand exactly what you offer.
4. Trust signals
- Real photos of you, your team and your work – not only stock images.
- Recent Google reviews or short customer quotes (real ones, with permission).
- A proper Impressum and privacy policy, which German law expects from business websites.
5. Speed and security
Your site should load quickly on mobile data and run on HTTPS. Slow pages lose visitors before they even see your offer. Compress images, avoid heavy sliders and keep plugins to a minimum.
6. Basic SEO
Every page needs a unique title and meta description, one main heading and text that uses the words your customers actually search for – including your district and "Berlin". Link your pages to each other so visitors (and Google) can find related information.
7. A reason to get in touch now
End every page with a simple call to action: a free quote, a quick call or a short form. Make the next step obvious and low-risk.
